My Mum

A Memory of Coatbridge.

My mum was born in Coathill Street in the Wifflet at the start of the war in 1939; she had 3 sisters Mary, Nan and Phyllis, and a brother John. I think she attended the local school at the bottom of Coathill St. She used to tell me many a tale of life growing up in the Wifflet in the 40's and 50's. Sadly, my mum passed away and I'm wondering if anyone knew her.

I remember the Russell's well I take it Jean was your mum.? I used stay across the road . I went for your gran's messages everyday after she had a fall. I remember Phyllis and john too . Didn't really know Nan and Mary. My maiden name was Ena Duffy. Now Ena Hamill . I still gave part of the tea set your gran bought for my wedding present in 1980 . X
