The 1950s boating pool shelter still stands and the boats remain, still paddle boats. The thatched bowls pavilion in the distanct was built in 1923; gates inot the park commemorate the parks opening by the Lord Mayor of London in October 1892.

My siblings and I were regulars here for much of the 1950s and 1960s. Our maternal grandparents lived on Northgate Street and we often marched down to the park to go on the boats.
