More about this scene
The overgrown remains of St Boltolph's Priory, a Norman church standing outside the old Roman walls of Colchester. In about 1100, the priory became the first in the country founded by Augustinian Order. The siege during the Civil War took its toll, and now only the west front and part of the nave survive.
