More about this scene
The late 17th-century tower with its liberal use of salvaged Roman brick fell in the 17th century. This fine church was closed in 1952, re-opened as a concert hall and theatre in 1958, but closed again. It still looks sad, but repairs started in 1998 for a much hoped for re-opening.
