Beside the memorial to the dead of two world wars is a statue to another of Colne's brave sons, Wallace Hartley. Appointed bandmaster on the 'Titanic', he kept his band playing as the ship sank, helping to bring calm to the desperate scene. The large cupola adorns the Co-operative building and beyond, the clock tower identifies the Town Hall.

Does anyone remember the late Mr Ted Cross .He started the company Cross and Lawsons Builders and all i know is he died in 1954 .I would love to know more about Ted The fact being he was a grandad I never met along with his wife Catharine .They had a son called william cross .If anyone knows more Please get in touch

Does anyone know of a Jean Wadsworth from Water Street, Colne..born in 1938. Married Richard Simpson in 1955.. Daughter of John Geoge Wadsowrth. She was my mother.. trying to trace her family.
Did any one go stock car raceing at Nelson in the sixties and seventys.
