More about this scene
The beach runs in a glorious sweep around the bay. The sands slope gently, offering safe bathing for children, and extend for a mile and more. It was observed in the 1890s that 'the deep water, wherein the expert swimmer loves to disport himself, is not too far out to be tiresome'. The curving promenade is three miles long, running westwards from Rhos on Sea to Old Colwyn. The house on the extreme left offers lodgings to let.
