More about this scene
This thatched cottage, now slated, was a 17th-century farmhouse, then two cottages; now it is the lodge for Combe Head House. Inside the house gates (left) are the graves of two pugs, inscribed 'always on guard'. In 1960 the lodge still had a garden privy and was inhabited by a family with nine children.
