Comberbach, The Spinner And Bergamot Inn c.1955

More about this scene
The pub pictured here, the Spinner and Bergamot, was built in 1792, and is named after two racehorses. Enlargement of the sign in the photograph shows that 'Burgamot' is spelt with a 'u' rather than an 'e'. Burgamott was a kind of tapestry made from the hair of goats or oxen, so perhaps there is an old connection here with spinning and weaving.
