More about this scene
Constantine's fine terraces are built with granite dug from one of the many quarries nearby, which also furnished the stone for Waterloo Bridge. There were also several mines, including Wheal Vyvyan, Wheal Caroline and East Wheal Rose, at which, in the 18th century, miners earned £3 a month.
