We can see Coronation Park in the foreground - the flowerbeds were later grassed over. At the top of the hill behind the trees stands the Territorial Army building and the town centre. The house on the corner of Montrose Street to the left is now another medical centre, with a dental surgery next door.

Greetings from Canada! O how this picture brings back memories. I was raised on nearby Argyll Street in the late 50's and 60's, and the area shown in this picture encompasses virtually all of my childhood... Just to the left of the picture, the junction of Elizabeth Street with Cottingham Road had a bollard in the middle. Coming home from band practice by bike (Corby Silver Band used an old stone building, perhaps once a barn in the 'old village'), I witnessed a low-slung open top sports car turn sharply into Elizabeth Street and knock the bollard over.
