You could be forgiven for not recognising this building today. This is the original church facing Beanfield Avenue and Newark Drive. In 1965 it was gutted by a disastrous fire and was rebuilt and enlarged to a futuristic design based on the Triangular Lodge at Rushton. It reopened in April 1967.

We moved into 1Greenhill Rise in 1958 when it was the very edge of town, the United counties bus turned around next to the house. We watched the building all around us and watched them build St Andrews, it was directly across the street from our house, will never forget the night it burned down. I was christened at this church, probably about 1967, I remember a fire a few years later. I have lived in Australia for the past 33 years but enjoyed our bible classes and can't quite remember the vicar's name around this time!
