Cowsley Farm Cornsay
A Memory of Cornsay.
Hi, Does anyone remember cowsley farm cornsay, my uncle Harry Blake was farmer there till about 1964 he had retired but lived in a caravan on site till his death. His brother David blake and Harry also farmed Finnings farm Langley Park after their father john willie Blake and my relation sally ( sarah ) embleton who married John Blake 1914 Harry and david were their sons. Where does cowsley farm saying come from did the people in the past who owned it were called cowsley or is it just a name for the farm. I remember visiting the farm when I was about 10 years old and only knew it as uncle Harrys farm and also Blakes farm in Langley Park. strange enough my grandad married Elizabeth Ellen Chapman ( nee ) dunning from Cornsay colliery were the dunning family lived in 1926 they lived logan street langley park. derick Smith
