Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

years later. Little appears to have changed, even to the extent of the lack of traffic in the later photograph, which must have been unusual, even in 1955! The Anchor has since undergone a change of name to the Old Court House, in recognition of a tradition that it once was the venue for court proceedings.

This alley had the vicarage on its other side. You had to go under or beside a no-cycling bar to get through - there was one at the other end too, and they were brilliant for hanging upside down on. The alley was our route, every day, to and from Tower Hill school, through the prefab estate originally and later the flats. Mums used to wait and chat either at the top end of the alley ...see more
Can anyone help and let me know the exact location of Basingbourne House? I lived at St Antoine (no. 57) for 30 years and believe it formed part of that estate but cannot find any evidence, apart from an old photo showing some trees that were in our garden that looked like those in the photo.
Going ‘down the village’ pretty much referred to the stretch of Cove Road, between Hazel Avenue and Marrowbrooke Lane, where most of the shops were. Once upon a time Cove must have been the typical English village: two houses, three pubs and a church.
