My Second Head Chef Position When I Was 21

A Memory of Coverack.

I left the Royal Navy in late 1971 and worked in Zermatt Switzerland for a short time when I applied and got my first head chef position in England I was 21 yrs old, The owners then were MR & Mrs Mullins, Mrs Peggy Mullins was an author, It was a lovely old world hotel and they even filed part of an episode to the TV series The persuaders there, the staff were a mixed but lovely bunch, and we were very busy, It afforded me the opportunity to hone my skills as a chef, a year later I moved to Australia.
There were a lot of us Celts working there, Angela from Scotland,My dear friend Billy Banks also from Scotland, Linda Whitby my girlfriend at the time from up the road in Helston and later in the year a wonderful old chef who came to help me Basil Ostler from the wonderfully named Rose Cottage in the village of Germoe near Penzance, there were many more but the years have dulled my memory and I apologize for this .
The Headland was a great old hotel and has a special place in my heart,
