More about this scene
The skill of island masons can be seen in the more recent additions to the Castle. A fence now hides the short castellated turret of the lodge on the road leading away from the castle. The viewing platform, with its striped awning, gives a clear view of the Solent for the club's members and guests. It is also where the computers are kept for collating races. There is a private landing place for members of the Royal Yacht Squadron and officers engaged on Her Majesty's Service.
