Castle Street is named for a Norman motte-and-bailey earthwork on the wooded hill above the village. The Fleur-de-Lis hotel stands to the right. The storerooms and offices housed the builders Coombs Brothers (left), who were also the village undertakers. William Day ran the fish and chip shop (right).
