Visitors beautifully attired in the finest Edwardian summer wear enjoy the cliff top promenade and the gentle slopes and steps down the cliff side. These walks were only made possible after the improvements of 1894-95 which removed the old narrow alleyways and steep steps; a contemporary guide said that they 'though picturesque, were trying'.
