More about this scene
Crowborough's rapid development from the mid Victorian era started from the arrival of the railways and the rise of the commuter. The town - the highest in Sussex - stands at the eastern edge of Ashdown Forest. By the early 1900s it was billed as 'Sussex's answer to Scotland'!
