Crowle, The Market Place c.1960

More about this scene
The only thing that can be said about the horrendous building in the centre is that it served a useful purpose - a toilet block. Fortunately, this blot on the landscape has now been flushed away. The market continues, but it is now more of a flea market and car-boot sale. The Barnsley Brewery is once again thriving, thanks to the resurgence of real ale, but the Cross Keys is now a John Smith's pub.
