Prefabs

A Memory of Dagenham.

I was born in the prefabs in Gale Street in 1947, but moved to Campden Crescent when I was 9 months old, and attended Becontree Secondary Modern School in Stevens Rd.

I remember the prefabs in Gale street. There was a paper shop there where I did my paper round from. My sister lived in one of the prefabs. When their alarm clock broke, her hubby (Albie) would lean the ironing board up against the front door so when I put the paper through it would knock the ironing board over and make a crash and wake him up!
