High Row Toilets

A Memory of Darlington.

yes High Row did have gents toilets .two sets of steep steps leading down to wash and brush ups by a toilet attendant also I remember a gents barber had a kiosk down there due to council cutbacks everything now closed and bricked up .Can any one remember a character called Geordy Fawbutt who had stall next to the covered market steps selling winkle's whelks and mussels on small dishes he used to live in Valley Street next to the River Skerne and rumors had it said he kept his stock fresh by dangling them in the river . Another memory of the brick archway in Russell Street next to the old Lily Laundry called Fattimans Squeeze leading up to Weir Street good old 1950s nice memories From Tony Atkinson Eastbourne Lad
