More about this scene
It is a busy day on the Market Square. The earliest recorded market in Daventry was in 1203, and this was formalised in the charters of 1576 and 1595. However, there was no market here in the 1940s or 1950s; the market was restarted in the late 1960s on the Market Square and transferred to the High Street around 1990, where it still operates on Tuesdays and Fridays.
