More about this scene
As we turn our back on the Market Square, High Street runs westward to Sheaf Street. This view shows Burton's memorial standing at the top of the High Street on the spot where the original Moot Hall stood in 1788. Behind it is Frost's, a tobacconist's and confectioner's, which was demolished in 1951. Danetre Café on the left, known as Leigh's, is where the Daventry Town Ladies Hockey Team had tea for 1s per person in the 1930s.
