I Was In Dedisham In Late 1949 O 1950 For 9month I Remember The Donkey And The Bars On The Window And Me Saying I Was Going To Throw Myself Out Becaus
A Memory of Dedisham.
I was in Dedisham late 1949-1950 for 9 months - I also remember the donkey and the bars on the windows. I had wet the bed and they made me wash my sheets in a big sink and I was standing on the window sill threatening to throw myself out. I was friends with a brother and sister called Ann and David. The treatment in the home was not nice. My mum and Dad were in the local pub and a worker was talking to her friend about a little girl called Gail and my mum went over and told them that was her daughter and went back to Dedisham and took me home with them. They took me to the doctors and I had blockage of the bowels and witlows all over my fingers and a proper nervous wreck. I have photos of me when I was there and a program of the Christmas festivities for 1950.
