On the road to Market Harborough, Desborough is a small town with various ironstone cottages and inns. Long ago there was a Saxon settlement here; three huge stones were discovered in the rectory garden, the largest covered on two sides with Saxon lettering. A Saxon mirror and necklace found here were given to the British Museum.

In our school holidays I used to go fishing and swimming down the brook below Pioneer Ave, that's where I lived, number 19 Pioneer. We moved to Windsor Ave in 1978. I used to knock about with Simon Loake, Barry Goodman, Dean Underwood, John and James Twelvetree.
