More about this scene

We are looking south towards the church of St Giles, which dates from the early 13th century; the war memorial stands behind aptly named Dunkirk Avenue on the left. Behind it is Church House, which was built in the 18th century. The church-like building on the corner of Kettering Road (now Lower Street) has since been demolished, and a modern community centre stands on its site.
