Three women, all wearing ankle-length dresses, pose on Dovedale's famous Stepping Stones beneath the limestone crags of Thorpe Cloud (right). Dovedale is probably the best known of the Derbyshire Dales; indeed, the parked wagons offering donkey rides, and the signs to the Izaak Walton Hotel, show that tourism was already well-established when this photograph was taken.
