A Memory of Dover.

My late father Arthur Thomas Wells, son of Robert worked for Parker Pen and edited their magazine BLOTS and SPLASHES , and played for their work Cricket and Football teams..

He added to his football interest for a period from about season 52-53 to 54-55 bt being a referee locally, officating mainly in Kent League 2 . He kept no records of his games, and as a programme collector myself it would be nice if I could add an original to his file.

I do have a photo copyy of what I believe to be his biggest game , as linesman for Dover v Tottenham A in 1954... His memory eluded him on his other games though he could recall officating at Whitstable , RM Deal, and being in the middle at Snowdown Coliery. Apparently he also in the middle for a FINAL of a Junior Level game at Crabble.

Does anyone have rrelatives who also were involved in Football in the Town that can maybe add to his family file

Thank you

john wells

Comments & Feedback

Dad was also in the Royal Engineers in the War, I know very little, in 1944 he was in Italy, near Naples. 2 units are mentioned on some photos 60 SPECIAL COMPANY ,, and in 1945 2 FIELD PARK at Ballantrae in Scotland.

I believe deception work was a part in 1944, possibly linked to Monte Cassino but not confirmed.

Can anyone add to this please.
