Nostalgic memories of Drumchapel's local history

Share your own memories of Drumchapel and read what others have said

For many years now, we've been inviting visitors to our web site to add their own memories to share their experiences of life as it was when the photographs in our archive were taken. From brief one-liners explaining a little bit more about the image depicted, to great, in-depth accounts of a childhood when things were rather different than today (and everything inbetween!). We've had many contributors recognising themselves or loved ones in our photographs.

Why not add your memory today and become part of our Memories Community to help others in the future delve back into their past.

Hello, my name is Mark Dominic Bird, and I attended Ladyloan Primary School from April 1977 until it closed in the summer of 1982. I would love to see photographs of the school taken during this period, but any other period would be fine. I still see one person whom I have since I started there, and that is now 42 years ago now. If anyone can locate pictures of the school, and post them on this site, I would be extremely grateful.

My family lived at 8 Kilcloy Ave from 1966 to 1974 , family name McGinley. Four of us went to St Sixtus Primary . Paula, Angela, Lisa and Tonia. My Mum and Dad are Tony and Rachel. We then moved to Cumbernauld. I have many memories of living there , playing up Peel Glen in the woods, Summerhill shops, the big play ground near Linkwwod Ave going to "the baths". If anyone remembers us from Kilcloy ...see more
I grew up in Jedworth Place from 1960 to 1970 when my parents emigrated to Australia. I went to Broadholm Primary school. I remember the Robertsons who lived next door but would love to hear from anyone who lived around there during the mid-60's... There were loads of kids... The Allens (5) if I remember well.... And we were often out playing or going down to the burn or in the woods!!!
Would love to hear from people who remember me. I lived at 31 Cloan Avenue for 12 years. Went to Stonedyke Primary then Waverley Secondary. Would love to hear from Jean Murray. I have happy memories living in Cloan Avenue. We had great times and there was no fear playing out all day. Please get in touch if you remember me.

Does anybody know of a family called Dewar who lived in Drumchapel. The person I am looking for is my half brother, his name is Neil Joseph Cooke. His mother was called Josie Dewar, she married my father in 1972 in Kingston upon Thames. She worked at the time in the Druidshead, Kingston upon Thames. I remember she also had a brother called Gorden. Thanks
