More about this scene
The gardens were originally laid out in the 17th century by John, second Earl of Perth and relaid in the early decades of the 19th century. The layout shown here dates from 1840. Drummond Castle Gardens is noted for its many rare shrubs and trees, but it also has another unusual feature. The obelisk-type structure seen here in the centre of the garden pathway is in fact a multiple sundial, which in 1904 gave the time for what were then the major cities of Europe.
