More about this scene
The famous Long Room of the old library. This 210ft long room houses about 200,000 antiquarian books. The room was altered in 1857, with first and second floors thrown together under a timber barrel-vaulted roof. It is a major tourist attraction and has changed but little since this picture was taken.
