Christmas Deliveries: If you placed an order on or before midday on Friday 19th December for Christmas delivery it was despatched before the Royal Mail or Parcel Force deadline and therefore should be received in time for Christmas. Orders placed after midday on Friday 19th December will be delivered in the New Year.

More about this scene

For a very built-up area, Dudley has always had a number of green, open spaces, including the Civic Gardens, situated between Priory Road and The Broadway, opposite the Council House. The facilities are spartan, but a few generations have found some respite here, especially during lunchtime, with a walk or rest in this pleasant spot, which was laid out as part of the Council House scheme completed in December 1935.

Tower Street
There was a fruit wholesaler in Tower Street. Think it may have been Southalls. I remember being taken as a child to see the huge cart horses dressed up for May Day. They looked spectacular with their gleaming coats, plaited manes, decorated harnesses and shiny hooves. This was the beginning of my lifelong love for horses.

First Home
My father worked for the Midland Bank in the market place. He, my mother and I lived in a flat above the bank. The only entrance to the flat was a metal fire escape behind the bank. Must have been a nightmare for mum and Dad when I started toddling!!

Birdcage Walk In The Beginning
I remember when Birdcage Walk was first opened. My husband John and his father William cleaned the Windows of most of the shops there. It was like a little community, it had everything. Paper shop, wet fish shop, butchers, clothes shops and even the Dudley Herald newspaper office was there. Happy days.

Park School Dudley
Hi, I too attended The Park School and remember Miss Napier. I also remember Miss Wright ~ P.E.."Gabby Haynes" ~Music.I left in 1958. I was then Carol Roden. Any one else remember ?
My Early Years living in Dudley, West Midlands.

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
