More about this scene
DunhamMassey is now part of Greater Manchester, although it was still in Cheshire at the time this photograph was taken. The house, and extensive grounds, are preserved by the National Trust. Although techincally a Georgian house, it was extensively restyled in the early 20th century, so that it is now often described as having one of the most sumptuous Edwardian interiors of any house in the country.
