More about this scene

Dunster Castle, set in its beautiful parkland, emerges from its tree-girt ridge as one of the most picturesque compositions in Somerset. Now owned by the National Trust, it was the home of the Luttrell family for six centuries. The Norman gatehouse from the town survives, but most of what you see now is the 1860s remodelling of the parts left after Civil War damage of the castle and its Elizabethan and Jacobean reconstruction. Anthony Salvin thoroughly medievalised the buildings to their present romantic appearance.
