Ealing, Uxbridge Road 1901

More about this scene
Ealing had been a modest village in Middlesex with a population of 7000 at the beginning of Queen Victoria's reign. When Victoria died in 1901 the population had increased to 47,000, thanks to the urban sprawl of nearby London and the many people who chose to settle in this attractive town upwind of the metropolis. The advertising hoardings on the horse-drawn buses advertise both Nestle's milk and Lipton's teas.
