The George & Dragon public house in the foreground (left) was demolished in 1964 to allow very long concrete pillars to be transported around the corner. These were for the track constructed between Earith and Sutton Gault for the hovercraft test bed. The site, now occupied by the decorative village sign, is still referred to as George Corner.
