More about this scene
Off Moat Road is the former St Margaret's Anglican Convent. It was founded by the Rev John Mason Neale, who was among other things a prolific hymn writer, the author of 'O come, O come, Immanuel'. Building started in 1865 to designs by G E Street, the architect of the Law Courts in London. There were many more additions by him and his son, A E Street, and they produced a splendid complex of buildings. Now approached via a housing estate built in the grounds, it has been converted to apartments known, unsurprisingly, as the Old Convent. Sussex Towns From Chichester to Uckfield
