More about this scene
Three young men enjoy a chat in an almost deserted street. On the left is the post office, run by Fred Maplesden, who was also printer and publisher of the East Grinstead Household Almanack. At the end of Middle Row stands the house and shop (1877) of George Bailye, tailor and hairdresser. On the right is part of West Buildings - demolished in 1891 - with a hand lettered board advertising George Woolgar's iron works in nearby West Street.
