More about this scene
Known today for the nearby open prison situated on an old RAF camp, Eastchurch's claim to fame in earlier days was that it was the site of the first British airfield. The village lies on the north side of the Isle of Sheppey. In 1895 it comprised over 7,000 acres of land and 950 of tidal water and foreshore. The population was 854.
