More about this scene
The fact that water is supplied from here still rankles with the Welsh – all this water is piped off to England. These dams were constructed from 1893 to 1904, and over 100 lives were lost during their construction; 50,000 people were involved in building them. More than 100 people in the valley also had to move to make way for the dams. Three manor houses, eighteen farms, a school and a church were demolished.
