Final improvements on the Exeter Canal, completed in 1832, allowed larger vessels, such as the 'Hans Emil' pictured here, to reach the Port. Note the bonded warehouse to the left of centre. An indication of the kind of cargoes passing through the Port is gained from noting the wharf-side businesses. W L Jones' bonded store (seen in photograph 38035) is now centre shot.

My name is Rodger Palmer & I was at Colditz Northbrook school around the mid 60's.The housemaster was Gator nicknamed alligator, haha. My job while there was on the gardens. My number at the school was 76. There are two people that I can recall by name at present & they are Vernon Wilkes & Larry Loughlan. If there is anyone on here who remembers me or who would like to reminisce then I would be pleased to hear from you. Thanking you in anticipation, Rodger

Memories Of North Brook Reform School Beakon Lane In Exeter
My name is Robert Read I would like to know if anyone remembers NorthBrook Reform school in Breakon lane Whipton Exeter. I was there from 1957 -1958.Head master at that time was Mr Thompson Deputey head was Swanson and Mr Frawley. My friends were Harris clark Lomacks Harris Vally and the cook House boys were cockrel and Biglestare. The building is not there any more think it got demolished in the late 90s. Be so grateful if you could reply to this memories of my past.

Looking For Jennifer S. Phillips
I don't have a memory of Exeter but I do have one of an ex Wokingham girl who moved to and got married in Exeter and I am hoping to reconnect with her, he maiden name was Jennifer House. She married Michael Charles Phillips in 1971 and they lived in Blackboy road, I knew her in the mid 1960s and we had some wonderful times together, she travelled from Wokingham to Reading by train and some how we lost ...see more

Looking For Jennifer
Not sure if this is the correct forum as I don't have a memory of Exeter but I do have a memory of a girl I knew many years ago from Wokingham, Her name then was Jennifer House and I believe her name now is Jennifer Susan Phillips, married at Exeter in 1971, If you are this person or you know of her please contact me at whitleyite@gmail.com I remember happy times and was very disappointed when we lost ...see more

Genealogy & Research Images

Despite over 20 years’ work on the archive, these scans have still not been individually checked and may prove to be damaged, faded, or not of sufficient quality to ever be offered in our full product range. However, if you would particularly like to buy one of these please get in touch quoting the Frith negative number,(s) the town name and size of print you would like to buy. On receipt of your enquiry our archivist will check the scan and advise you if the quality is good enough.

What is an Album?

An album is a way to save a selection of Frith photos, maps and memories that are of interest to you.

Creating an Album enables you to make short lists and then make a final selection from the album. In particular it makes ordering things like calendars much easier - simply create an Album of the 12 photos you like and then use the Album when placng your order - our order process will give you this option.

You can create as many Albums as you want, so perhaps make one for your hometown, where you live now, where your parents live now etc.
