More about this scene
By 1930 a War Memorial has appeared, while the cottage beyond, Old Tythe, then the post office, is now no longer a shop. The bridge over the stream in the foreground is an ancient stone slab or 'clapper' bridge; there are many of these in Exmoor, including the famous Tarr Steps across the River Barle, five miles away over Winsford Hill.
