Francis Frith Murderer Of Eyam

A Memory of Eyam.

I am astonished that this collection is Francis Frith and I am assuming it is a coincidence that I found it when looking up Francis Frith of Eyam.

Francis Frith was a resident of Eyam in Derbsyhire. He and his wife were buried in Eyam on March 11th 1836. The unusual thing about this was that Francis first murdered his younger wife and then killed himself.

My family (Beeley/White) come from the Parish of Eyam and the Grindleford Bridge area and would have known the Friths. Intrigued to know if anyone knows any more.

Note from the Editor: There is a Frith family connection with Eyam, but this is not the same Francis Frith. The photographer Francis Frith was born in 1822 and died and was buried in Cannes, France, in 1898. See the story of Francis Frith and the Collection on our website.
