Rapidly Changing Times

A Memory of Failsworth.

I remember moving away from the slum clearance areas of Miles Platting and moving into our brand new semi detatched house off Lord Lane. The fields and woods offered an adventure playground better that any I had known; so much green, so little noise... Unfortunately, the developers were still chipping away at this natural beauty and within ten years all the countrtryside had been replaced by more and more houses. My family and others like us wanted our houses but I sometimes feel it was a high price to pay.

Ha ha such happy times we had wandering over the fields to woodhouses. ..thru bluebell woods. So many memories. ..walking across the pipe over the pig stream..sledging over sheer drops in the winter! I too remember the tarzan swing but didn't fall off! We used to scarper if the twinnies were about...complete with air rifles
I moved into house off lord lane mid sixties when about five...so many great memories of my childhood friends from those days. ...our old stomping grounds so tangled with brambles now..natures reclaimed it back...was sad to see ah well time moves on I guess!
