More about this scene
On the right by the pillar box is a circulating library; across the street is the Lantern Bakery, next door to H Brooks, grocer and Italian warehouseman. The Blackpool, St Anne's & Lytham Tramways Company Ltd, who laid track from Squire's Gate to Lytham Square, had opened up the coast further, but the first trams, driven by gas engines, were noisy, smelly and uncomfortable. Pollux Gate was where the Fairhaven Estate Company held meetings.
