House Fire
A Memory of Farcet.
I used to live in Farcet Fen in the 60's I was only a small kid so don't know the name of the road But we lived in a thatched cottage that was a tied cottage -again cant remember the name of the farmer but seem to think the name might be Wilson? just a memory of my mum saying the name - any way one sunday we were having our sunday lunch this would be late 60's maybe 68 any way a man came to our door and said did you know your roof is on fire ? Obviously not or we wouldn't be eating ! we managed to save everything but finished up living with my sister and her family in Dogsthorpe till we were found a house in Westwood street Peterborough ,Like I say a vague memory but does anyone recall the fire or know the man who knocked on the door that day ? My parents names were Mable and jack (John Eric )Smith
