A Memory of Featherstone.

I was born in 1953 and lived on Dickinson terrace ,my gran and grandad owned a grocery shop at the top of station lne there were three shops ours was the middle one.One of the other shops was a fish and chip shop. The time we lived on Dickinson Terrace i remember the neighbours at one side there was Mrs Attak at the other was Mrs Hufton ,she had son called derek and a Daughter called linda and next door to them was Mrs Cawthra. My memory of this was November 5 bonfire night everybody in the street contributed to the occasion
With baked potatoes and mushy peas along with the
Fireworks this lasted all day
Something not seen these days.

Hello Stanley,

I lived at Number 11 Dickinson Terrace from about 1962 to 1966/7, I was 4 in 1962 and my first school was Gordon Street infant's school in Featherstone. My friend Peter lived next door neighbour, we went to the same school .... My Older Brother David was two years older than me .. he had a heart condition and sadly died just before his 8th birthday in 1964. David is buried in the cemetery in Featherstone and even though I now live near Winchester Hampshire I still visit his grave every year. While living at living at 11 Dickinson Terrace my Mum (Sheila Powell) was busy producing more siblings for us and my younger Brother Barry was born in 1963 and my Sister Tracy was born in 1964 two months after David died. Even though there is sadness there are also special childhood memories. I do remember the bonfires on 5th November too, great days. Sadly I'm not great at remembering names but it is possible we knew each other too.
Regards
Clint
