Feckenham once stood at the heart of Feckenham Forest, an ancient hunting ground of kings, which once covered some 200 square miles and included over 60 settlements. The last of the timber disappeared in the 17th century, into the hungry furnaces of nearby Droitwich. Tobacco cultivation replaced the trees, thriving until its production was made illegal.

I remember Feckenham Square when I was young and into my early teens. Both my grandparents, Vera and Jack Parker, are buried at Feckenham Church. My grandad was born in the parish and so buried in the parish. I live in Australia and visit the church when I visit my parents, who live in Headless Cross. My grandad and I would go to the square to watch the cricket and he said when he passed on, he would be buried in the church grounds so he could still listen to them playing.
This photo shows the shop where I was born in the 1950's - my mum's name is on the sign above the shop, June Veronica Hicks. The photo must be after 1964 as it was my dad's,John Hicks's Newsagents shop & that was the year he died. There was also a shop just showing on the left behind the black & white buliding which was a baker where the bread was baked on site & that was run by Frank Hicks who was my ...see more

Not sure how my tree links in with yours but I am also descended from a Davis family that I have traced back to Inkberrow. So far I have gone back to a John Davis born 1808, who was a farmer working on Priory Piece. It appears my family stayed there for a few generations before the line I'm descended from moved to Birmingham and then up to Bolton. From doing some further research I have also ...see more
I have been researching the Davis family, who lived on Feckenham Square for many years. My grandfather used to tell us that he remembers going to his grandparent's house when he was a boy in the early 1900s. I have found family members living here as early as 1861, although they certainly lived in the village before then. I live in Australia, and I would dearly love to see these places one day.
