More about this scene
The pair of wooden houses were called Montpelier in 1885; the next building is of 1889, and the building partly hidden by trees was Harland House in 1885. The gabled building on the right is part of the stable block dated 1904 which belonged to the adjacent Fludyer Arms of 1902. The stay of Mrs Simpson, the future wife of the Duke of Windsor, at Beach House is commemorated in the modern tea room in the old stables.
