Fittleworth, Fittleworth House 1908

More about this scene
The lane leading north from the A283 passes Fittleworth House, whose east front can be seen beyond a stone wall and piers at the end of a rectangular close, now superb gardens. The house itself, built in the 1840s, is still creeper- clad. It has five bays of glazing-barred sliding sashes below its hipped slate roof, whose deep eaves have paired brackets. Its left-hand projecting wing has blinds to protect these rooms from the sun, as it faces south.
